Community Guidelines
Last updated: March 2026
Oscilot exists to give people a space to communicate clearly, without noise. These guidelines exist to keep that space functional — not to police thought or enforce any particular worldview. We want a platform where communities can set their own norms within a small set of hard limits.
The Hard Limits
These apply everywhere on Oscilot regardless of server settings, community rules, or context. There are no exceptions.
- No CSAM or sexualized content involving minors — this is an absolute prohibition. Any account found distributing or soliciting this content will be permanently banned and reported to relevant authorities.
- No targeted harassment — coordinated campaigns to harm, threaten, or drive someone off the platform are not allowed. Criticism, disagreement, and even heated argument are fine. Sustained targeted harassment is not.
- No malware or phishing — don't use Oscilot to distribute malicious software or deceive users into giving up credentials or personal information.
- No facilitating real-world violence — planning, coordinating, or inciting violence against specific people or places is prohibited.
Server Owners Set Their Own Rules
Beyond the hard limits above, Oscilot is deliberately hands-off about what communities discuss. Server owners and moderators are responsible for their communities. They have real moderation tools — kick, ban, mute, slowmode, channel permissions, rules acceptance gates — to enforce whatever norms make sense for their community.
We are not going to remove servers because we find their topic distasteful. We are not going to enforce "hate speech" policies with vague, selectively applied definitions. Communities that stay within the hard limits above are welcome here.
What We Expect From Members
- One account per person — don't create alt accounts to evade bans or harass people who have blocked you.
- Respect server rules — if a server has rules, you agreed to them when you joined. If you don't like the rules, leave.
- Don't spam — unsolicited mass messaging, invite spam, and bot-driven spam are not welcome.
- Don't impersonate — don't pretend to be another person, especially in a way designed to mislead or harm them.
Reporting
If you encounter content that violates the hard limits above, contact us at [email protected]. Include as much context as possible — server name, user ID, and what you saw.
We review reports manually. We don't have automated content moderation, and we don't intend to build it. Reports are actioned by a human who reads them.
Enforcement
Violations of the hard limits result in permanent platform bans without appeal. For other issues — spam, impersonation, ban evasion — we'll use our judgement based on the severity and pattern of behaviour. We'd rather fix problems than accumulate ban lists.
If your account or server was actioned and you believe it was a mistake, email [email protected].
Alpha Period
Oscilot is currently in closed alpha.
Access is by invite only. These guidelines will evolve as the platform grows. We'll update this page and note changes at the top when we do.
